Loveology 201: Complete me or fulfill me?

Have you ever heard the old saying that there are people who will come in and out of your life for a reason, a season, or even a lifetime? How many people have you dated that you thought were the one as they seem to fulfill all of your wants and needs only to end up breaking up? When was the last time you really felt satisfied within your relationship to the point that you couldn’t breathe without the person you loved?

When I look at these three areas (reason, season and life), I find that some people are always looking for people to complete them for a reason or a season within a relationship. Whether it’s to have children, get out of financial debt, or simply add a new last name to yours, when people are in relationships that “complete” them, they leave room for disappointment and heartbreak. However, when someone really satisfies you, they are always there to nurture and support you. When you feel like the gas in your emotional tank is working with “E”, that person is there to fill you no matter how difficult life seems. In a relationship that is fulfilling, this person not only completes you, but also opens a level of commitment in their heart that can last a lifetime.

When you consider that a relationship is satisfying for each person, you and your partner should be able to tell each other that you have never been with someone who motivates you to do better. Your partner should tell you that you know how to talk to them the right way while pushing away their caveman attitudes (for men) or scolding (for women) in times of disagreement. Your partner must know unconditionally that you are the only person who can satisfy their needs sexually no matter how many partners they have had in the past until they met you.

The truth is, when two people are satisfied in a relationship, they shouldn’t want anyone else except each other. What is so amazing when you are in a fulfilling relationship, there is always a beginning and never an end. Love is the intangible and secures the foundation within a fulfilling relationship.

So in the end, the reveal is such a beautiful thing. It is like turning on a light in a dark room. Wow! When someone really satisfies you, you have everything to gain and nothing to lose. Stay tuned because with this base the sky is the limit. The most important thing is that you start with love.
