Five Secrets on How to Thrive in a Recession

1]Savings on food, drinks, movies.

In tough times like these, it’s best to take inventory of what you have at home, that is, in the pantry and in the refrigerator before you go out to do the shopping. Most people have a habit of just going to buy food, even when there is more at home. Many also throw food away even when there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. A very good way to save will be to check first and see what is there and what is not. Home cooking is also very healthy, enjoyable, convenient and cheap. So instead of eating out every day, save some money by eating out once or twice a week. Also save money for your family by renting movies and watching them in the comfort of your own home. You might as well look around and help people in need instead of wasting them. There are people around us who are dying to eat and you never know what a blessing you can be to someone because you gave them just one loaf of bread. Who you are makes the difference. Find ways to bless others with what God has abundantly blessed you with. Donate to food banks or ask your friends or family how you can donate food to those in need. You can be the change you want to see in the world today.

2]Prayers and moral support

Prayers change everything. You can pray as an individual or as a family with your husband and children. I believe that with prayers, this crisis, this recession will be over soon and everything will be back to normal and why not better than before. We can come out bigger and better if we put God first and trust Him to get us out of this. Mutual moral support is also very important at a time like this. Try as much as possible to speak and understand the language of others. What I want to say here is committed. Also stay positive, grateful and hopeful, as you thank God for abundance and for the gift of life. There are people here in the US and around the world who are not blessed to see the light of a new day. So it’s worth giving thanks to God for one more day.

3]Huge savings on clothing and footwear

For clothes and shoes, you can look like a million dollar just by shopping smart. There are countless online and in-store clothing and shoe stores that always have great deals that can save you big. So instead of continuing to spend so much, cut back and save by exploring other shopping options that will be good for you, your husband and children. Many other stores also have installment payment options that can help limit credit card use: debt. If you go through some people’s closets, you’ll find clothes and shoes with price tags that they’ve never worn, but still buy every day. At least check what you have before going for more. Don’t pile on junk after junk just because you have the money to pay for it. Don’t just buy unnecessarily. Remember that what matters with clothes is not the quantity you have but the quality and how you combine and use what you have. It’s also okay to count your blessings and find ways to bless others with the excess in your wardrobe. There are people all over the world who don’t have anything like what we have in the US and don’t dream of having anything one day. So please bless someone. There are organizations and charities all around us that will accept used clothing, shoes, food, and furniture. Just sacrifice some time, get these things together and take them to these Salvation Army organizations, or those delivery boxes parked on our streets. Do you remember that someone’s thrash is another’s treasure?

4]Savings in cleaning

Women are known most of the time for overspending on clothes, shoes, nails, hair, eyebrows, and makeup to name a few. You can do most of these yourself in the comfort of your own home.
For your brows, there is this little brow shaver and it is sold at beauty supply stores or dollar stores for just a dollar. It can take only five to ten minutes to have the best and sexiest eyebrow in the comfort of your bathroom. You save four dollars. Beauty salons usually charge five bucks for that, right? During a time like this, there are a few simple things you can do yourself that can save you, your family, or anyone else a lot of money. For example, if you are a woman who goes to the nail salon every week, limit yourself to once every two to three weeks by buying these DIY tools from beauty supply stores and do it yourself. Trust me, they are pretty if you take the time to do it. It also saves time waiting in line at the salon and some infections you can get as a result of dirty tools. Plus, you can save on your hair by shampooing, conditioning, shampooing, and styling in the comfort of your own home. It’s easy, fun and less time consuming. Also, keep some money in your pocket for rainy days.

5]Continuous love and support

Men have always been considered 75% of the time as the breadwinner and most work hard to support their families. Imagine the same man who has done this for years to suddenly lose his job and the ability to support his family. It’s frustrating, humiliating, depressing and a very dangerous time. Therefore, a time for a lot of support. This is a period where anything can happen. If his husband or wife is fired, it is not his fault. So instead of blaming or rejecting the person, show more love and support than ever because this is a difficult time and it won’t be forever. As the saying goes, hard times never last, but people do. It is a time to stick together and not fall apart. Remember, the recession is money and money problems should not separate husbands and wives, boyfriends and girlfriends, brothers and sisters from the love they have for each other. Ecclesiastes chapter 1:1 says, there is a time for everything.
