Hotel tricks and marketing

It’s no secret that hotels need promotions and marketing to bring their brand to market and gain new clientele. Still, there are some hotels that go beyond the kind of regular advertising most people would expect. With that said, let’s take a look at some examples of hotels that have gone to great lengths to stand out from the crowd, all in the name of good marketing to attract people.

When it comes to tricks, there is always a city that comes directly to mind. That’s Las Vegas, also known as Sin City because of all the gambling and other things going on around The Strip and surrounding parts. The hotels in this city, from the grandiose with their own high-end casinos to the smallest motels, all have tricks that seek to attract the mesmerized visitor.

Caesar’s Palace perhaps best epitomizes sophisticated Las Vegas hotels, with its Roman-themed architecture and landscaping and massive main fountain. The luxury hotel also has a Colosseum-inspired entertainment venue, among other secondary venues. Aptly named The Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace, it has hosted the likes of Celine Dion, Bette Midler, Elton John, and Cher.

On the opposite coast, there’s a 198-room establishment called the Donovan House, which has a sort of CIA theme. After all, the hotel is named after Major General William Joseph “Wild Bill” Donovan, who headed the US Office of Strategic Services. The OSS preceded the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), thus Donovan is recognized as the father of the CIA. The Donovan House theme includes wristwatch communicators for hotel staff and cocoon-spiral showers, suggesting what secret agents probably bathe in.

Another hotel marketing gimmick is the cheese-covered hotel room at the Washington Jefferson Hotel in New York City. To make a tourist attraction, the hotel manager hired an artist to completely embellish the room with 1,000 pounds of pure melted cheese. Yes, and it’s cheese directly from the Swiss Cheese Foundation. Now that’s a cheesy room.

We cross Europe in search of a terrifying and bizarre trick: the Vampire Room at the Propeller Island hotel in Berlin, Germany. As you might guess from the name, this room is probably best rented out by the likes of Lestat or Edward Cullen. The room has a couple of coffins for people to sleep in, and there are even crosses etched into the coffin covers! If that’s not your thing, the hotel also has the Cage Room, where you can relax in the comforts of two elevated cages.

Around the world, there are many different hotels that offer different types of attractions and tricks. With so many hotels spread across the globe, it’s imperative to be able to come up with something unique that will appeal to guests. It works for the hotel and it works for the guests who receive something extraordinary. The next time you book a hotel, see if you can find a themed one or one with uniquely designed rooms, so you get quite a refreshing hotel experience.
