Living without pets is not really living at all

Pets are therapeutic.

There is nothing like a pet to improve your mood, no matter if it is a dog, a cat, a horse, a donkey, a pig or an elephant.

The fact is that animals give love and warmth, and it is always known that the affection that a pet gives is not motivated by greed or, actually, lust, it is pure love and affection without limits.

We lost our beautiful Border Collie Tarbra in 2007, and we will never stop missing and loving her. In March 2009 we lost our old cat Brando and the house became an empty shell and yet in some strange way Tarbra and Brando are still with us and probably always will be.

I went out to our garden this morning to hang my clothes on the clothesline, and within minutes our neighbor’s cat, Soot, was there rubbing my leg to make a fuss, she does it every time I hang up my clothes or go to sit down. the garden for whatever reason, Sooty loves it when it’s sunny and I sit on the deck chair in my garden, she jumps and climbs on top of me, and she loves to have her back scratched gently, then she goes to sleep on top of me still purring like crazy.

I love to see Soot playing in the tall grass, jumping chasing insects that for some reason he never seems to catch, rolling all over the place and ending up on his back rubbing against my feet and legs waiting for him to rub his belly. giving little meows of joy, and I don’t think anyone will resist patting it, least of all me.

I have had all kinds of pets living in my house over the years, from my pony Ben who I treated for arthritis while living in my house, lambs, pigs, as well as donkeys, rabbits, mice, birds, dogs and cats. We even had a foul like a very loud rooster named red that my husband came home with out of nowhere one day to prevent him from ending up in a pot.

The funny thing is that even though I don’t have any animals right now, I can’t even walk down the street without some pet giving me a B-line, I don’t even have to look at a dog to get it started. dragging his poor owner towards me, like he’s a long-lost friend. A woman who had a rescued dog nearby and accused me quite a bit of being the horrible owner who had initially left the dog, of course I was not, but she took a bit of conviction as apparently this dog would not approach anyone normally, But it was on top of me As I pointed out, he obviously hadn’t mistreated his dog or any animal.

Because animals can instinctively feel my love for them, many of them automatically came to me to make a fuss. Donkeys are the funniest that I can sit in a car next to a field of donkeys and without opening my mouth, in a matter of practically no time the donkeys make me a straight line making a big scandal, it is as if they think I am another donkey in its mist. I love donkeys, I bet yes, if I had the property and funds to do it, I would have a donkey sanctuary in no time!

Pets are really therapeutic, we now have a Border Collie puppy named Foxie, because I can’t survive this life without having animals around me to love and be loved.
