Pokemon – Rise of Darkrai

If you are looking for real action and excitement in your entertainment, I suggest you watch a Pokemon movie. You may think that Pokémon is just a game for children, but it is much more. Having a six-year-old has really exposed me to some cool stuff, and the Pokémon movies are no exception.

The latest Pokemon movie, The Rise of Darkrai, premiered on Cartoon Network this spring, but if you missed it, the DVD is available from May 27, 2008 and limits before the TV show. Everything has been drawn in more detail and a lot of attention has been paid to shading and shadows. Very well done.

Rise of Darkrai’s story is a bit on the metaphysical side with Dialga and Palkia fighting over Alamos Town with the fate of the space-time continuum hanging in the balance. Then there’s Ash and his friends engaging in their usual Pokémon battles and scouting. Once Alamos Town begins to disappear, the gang realizes something is wrong and tries to help.

So who is Darkrai, you may ask. Well, Darkrai is a lonely Pokemon that can give everyone nightmares. So, of course, he is blamed for the disappearance of the town’s problems. One of the best scenes in the movie is when Darkrai turns the stuffed Baron Alberto into a Lickilicky Pokémon and who doesn’t love Lickilicky?

So if you’re looking for some well-drawn Pokémon action, The Rise of Darkrai is just what you’re looking for. The story is a little weird but just as entertaining.
