Memphis in Tennessee is located on the northern part of the Mississippi. A big city like Memphis has many places of interest that are interesting to the people who visit it. If you enjoy an activity like cruises, boating and rafting, head to Mud Island River Park. The Mississippi River and River Walk are perfect for a bike ride if you’re into that kind of thing.

You can see a replica of the Mississippi River on the River Walk. It is a detailed representation of the River Walk in that each 30″ step equals one mile of the river itself. You can see the landmarks, cities and bridges found in the real world in the replica.

The Mississippi River Museum is interesting for history buffs and there are historical sites you can visit. Adults and children alike will enjoy the Memphis Aquarium, which features six large aquariums, all filled with various river creatures. Campers can pitch their tents at various Memphis campgrounds. The Elvis Presley Boulevard RV Park, offering some of the best barbecue in the country, and close to “Home of the Blues and the birthplace of Rock n’ Roll,” Mississippi River RV Park (also located in Elvis Presley Blvd.) and if you want to be close to the famous Beale Street, 8 miles away is the Graceland KOA Campground.

The attractions of Memphis is what makes the place so special. Every year all kinds of celebrations are held to commemorate various festivities. From the Carnival Memphis, which celebrates the local industry in June, to many others, such as the Italian Festival, the Cooper Young Festival, which is an art competition that showcases the talent of artists from other states, the celebration of Elvis Presley’s birthday this year in 2010, plus a whole host of festivals too numerous to mention.

One festival that draws huge crowds is the Memphis International Festival in May. Four main events will take place at the festival: the Beale Street Music Festival (the three-day music event that kicks off Memphis in May), International Week (aims to expose young people to different cultures from around the world ), the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest (the world’s largest barbecue competition), and the Sunset Symphony (the closing event featuring the Memphis Symphony Orchestra).
