We so need a revival in the Church of Jesus Christ, but how desperate are we to accept that revival?

When it comes to spirituality, inspiration, motivation, and religion, there is another truth we dare not run away from! Someone or some people have to carry the load that precedes revival.

In Egypt, Moses had a load to carry.

Jesus Christ had to bear that burden of the cross before sin and sins could be forgiven.

When reading the scriptures, burdens precede blessings.

There may be times when we shy away from this, simply because it is such a huge and heavy challenge.

Simeon accepted that burden of waiting to see the Christ of the Lord.

Paul had a burden to preach to the Gentiles, and Peter to the Jews, and preaching and witnessing and ministering was a burden, but it was a joyous burden.

Having been involved in all of this for some forty years, if I could help anyone who is burdened by spirituality, if you contact me, I would consider it my pleasure and privilege to seek to help in any way I can. There is a nice facility here for this very purpose.

Almighty God is committed to working through the Church of Jesus Christ. We are called to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world.

That has not changed. We have no reason to think that God is going to do his work using any other means. We are the people, here and everywhere, for whom Jesus Christ died and shed his blood.

The Church of Jesus Christ has the authority of Jesus Christ, and no other group in the world has that.

For a revival to come, that requires the Grace of God and all that the Grace of God means and involves and God administers His Grace through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.

My recent reading and study of this entire area of revival raised a challenging question. How great is our need for a true spiritual awakening or revival?

The Reformation came at a time of great need. The Wesleyan revival prevented Islam from coming from France. We are certainly aware of a great need today.

Was there such a great need in 1948 or in the 1960s? I’m not sure, although it took place when there was this wave of the so-called new morality, and we’re paying the price now, some 40 years later.

By rereading certain passages in the book of Acts, we read how the people came and how the crowds gathered and how miracles occurred, along with the imprisonments.

In many places the church has become an arm of social work. Mez McConnell, who works and serves in Edinburgh, Scotland, would tell you all about that reality.

Our activity can sometimes prevent God from being active.

So what are we going to do about this aspect? As we read Psalm 20, we learn that we trust and trust in our God. When people wanted Jesus to do things, or when they wanted to make him king, Jesus would go away and pray.

There is this great danger of starting to depend on ourselves instead of totally depending on God.

God reduced the army of Israel in the days of Gideon, so that Israel would not boast that her own strength saved her.

Man can prefer his own light when the self is the god of that person.

Isaiah saw this so clearly.

During these last weeks and months it has been a great joy to read, study and pray about Revival.

We so need revival in the Church of Jesus Christ, but how desperate are we to open up to embrace that revival?
